Wombat Security Receives US Air Force SBIR Contract to Develop Micro Games for Cyber Threat Awareness

PITTSBURGH, PA May 6, 2009 – Wombat Security Technology has been awarded a US Air Force Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract to create micro games to teach people how to be more secure. This contract builds on Wombat’s past work in developing Anti-Phishing Phil, a game that teaches people how to protect themselves from phishing attacks.

Wombat’s Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Jason Hong, says, “A great deal of products in computer security overlook the human element, as can be seen with social engineering attacks and phishing attacks. As such, we view training of both employees and customers as a gap in the current state of the art. The key here is in making the training fun and effective, so that people will be motivated to learn and can respond in the right way in real situations.”

“Thanks to this award, Wombat will be able to develop a gaming platform that will enable us to achieve a significant competitive advantage by drastically reducing the time it takes to develop and deploy new cyber security awareness training games,” adds. Dr. Norman Sadeh, Wombat’s CEO.
